Gusa by Victoria

Victoria Kageni, the talented visionary behind Gusa By Victoria, was ready to take her brand to the next level and wanted LUMI’s creative support in doing that. Originally from Kenya, Victoria sought to share her culture with her community through her custom clothing designs, homewares sourced from her homeland, and sewing and Swahili class offerings. The problem was not with her offerings- beautifully crafted pieces and diverse learning experiences- the problem was visibility and clear messaging that communicated value and expertise.

Scope of Work

  • Content Development
  • Graphic Design
  • Copywriting
  • Photography Production
  • Video Production

We worked with Victoria to style and art direct a fashion shoot featuring her favorite Gusa By Victoria pieces, and crafted an editorial that communicated her history, vision, and yearning to share her love for fashion and African culture. The advertorial earned a cover feature in YRK Magazine and its digital edition provided Gusa with fresh content to connect with new audiences on social media and beyond.

Gusa later moved to a larger retail space and sought to launch the first ever Gusa World Music Festival which would feature world class talent- dancers, musicians and performers from Africa and beyond to bring authentic cultural experiences to her local community. LUMI worked with Gusa to produce a promo video that teased what people could expect to experience at the festival. The video was shared over multiple times and helped Gusa secure sponsorships for the event. The event attracted attendees from outside of the area, which eventually led to a partnership with the official county tourism bureau.
